A spur-of-a-moment trip to one of New England's many coastal areas. The travel included a visit to Ogunquit, Maine as well as exploring the historic city of Portsmouth, New Hampshire.
Ogunquit, Maine once was voted America's Best Coastal Small Town in 2016 by USA Today. The town features a variety of small shops and restaurants and a visit to its beaches and the Marginal Way was well worth the trip. Founded in 1980, the name Ogunquit translates as
"Beautiful Place by the Sea" in the Native American Abenaki language.
Portsmouth, New Hampshire, on the other hand, has been settled by English Colonists as early as 1630. The first established settlement was named Strawberry Banke, which one can still visit today. The city served as an important trade post for many years and its quaintness makes this a special place to see.
We truly enjoyed our time here along with the many food options these places offered. Especially for seafood lovers, Maine is "the place" to eat lobster.
